KING OF DIRTY POP
Apparently Michael Jackson wanted to get the dust off his signature black penny loafers 24 hours ahead of schedule. He performed in front of a U.S. audience for the first time in years when he joined 'NSYNC onstage at the MTV Video Music Awards.
Toward the end of the group's performance of "Pop," the words "King of Pop" appeared on a giant Etch a Sketch, only to be replaced by a silhouette of Jackson. As the oversized drawing device was elevated, Jackson, dressed in a white V-neck T-shirt and a black shirt and pants, came onstage and started to do the robot, pop-lock and show off his often-imitated spins and feet shuffling, but he did not sing.
Jackson's only acknowledgement to the audience, which gave him a standing ovation, was a single point of the finger.
Jackson and 'NSYNC will again team up for a performance of the Jackson 5's "Dancing Machine" with Jackson's brothers during the Michael Jackson: 30th Anniversary Celebration, The Solo Years tribute. The star-studded tribute concerts take place Friday and Monday in New York.

*N SYNC SWEEPS VMAs
'NSYNC may have made the biggest impact, grabbing four awards, all of them during the televised portion of the ceremony, and helping Michael Jackson make his long-awaited return to the stage. 'NSYNC's "Pop" took home four Moonmen, including Viewer's Choice and Best Pop Video. After dispensing the usual thank-you's to family, label execs, and "Pop" director Wayne Isham, Justin Timberlake was modest at the podium when accepting his accolades. "I think Fatboy Slim was robbed, honestly," he said while accepting the award for Best Dance Video, and "U2 was robbed this time" after receiving the statuette for Best Group Video.

PARKING TO BE $15 FOR 'N SYNC SHOW
(From my local newspaper concerning "my" *N Sync concert) Parking rates for the 'N Sync concert at the new Heinz Field are out of sync with what Pittsburgh Steelers fans will pay to park in lots where the Sports & Exhibition Authority sets rates.
Fans attending the Aug. 18 concert, the first event at the new home of the Steelers, will pay $15 to park.
Some members of the city-county authority, which oversees the new stadium, wanted to charge just $10 while others favored charging $20. Steelers fans will pay $24 or $20 at lots closest to the stadium.
Authority board member and state Rep. Ralph Kaiser agreed with the $15 compromise rate because he said 'N Sync's fans are mostly teenagers making low wags.
"These are people working at Wendy's and McDonald's," said Kaiser, an Allegheny County Democrat. "They're saving their money to go to the concert. I don't want to soak them."
MY COMMENT: What the heck are these people thinking?...This guy thinks he's being generous or something??? This means, that even if I go to the concert with 4 other people in the car, we will each still have to pay $3...That's about how much the TOTAL should be! I'm thinking about organizing a protest and having the whole audience come in busses and just have the drivers drop us off!! Sheesh!

*N SYNC BREAKS RECORDS BUT NOT THEIR OWN
'N SYNC's third album, "Celebrity," sold 1,879,955 copies in its first week of sales, according to SoundScan, giving the group the second highest opening week sales tally, topping EMINEM's "The Marshall Mathers LP," which moved 1.7 million copies in its first week in stores last year. Only 'N Sync's previous album, 2000's "No Strings Attached," has scored a higher tally, with 2.4
million units sold in its debut week.

'NSYNC EXPRESS SUPPORT FOR BACKSTREET BOYS' STRUGGLE
From VH1 "I wish the guy the best. I hope he pulls it together." — J.C. Chasez
Backstreet Boy A.J. McLean's revelations of depression and alcohol abuse shook the pop world at its foundations, and perhaps no one can better understand the pressures of being in a multiplatinum pop group than the members of 'NSYNC.
While J.C. Chasez didn't claim to fully relate to McLean's plight, he did offer his condolences.
"I really don't know what to say about that, except for, you know, I hope he gets better," Chasez said in a telephone press conference Friday (July 13). "It's kind of sad that he's got a problem like that, and I wish the guy the best. I hope he pulls it together. At least he's admitted to himself that he has a problem. And that's pretty much the first step."
"Our prayers are with him," Lance Bass added.
The intense schedule of 'NSYNC's PopOdyssey tour, which kicked off May 23 in Jacksonville, Florida, is leaving them little time to get anxious about the release of Celebrity, which hits stores July 24. The group's most recent album, last year's No Strings Attached, broke the record for first-week sales when it debuted to the tune of 2.4 million copies sold, so expectations are obviously high.
"We're so wrapped up in the tour [that the album] is not the only thing on our minds," Chasez said. "Right now we're just getting the audience reactions, because we're playing half of the album on the tour. We're kinda looking at the audience to see if they're digging it. So far we like the reaction that we're getting. I don't know if we're going to break the [sales] record [with Celebrity], but then again, it's a nice position to be in that you don't have to break your own record."
NEW SINGLE TO BE RELSEASED
From The Official *NSYNC Site: "The working title of NSYNC's upcoming album is 'Celebrity' - look for it in stores this summer! The first single is 'Pop' - be sure to listen for it on your local radio station beginning May 15th! We're planning some extra cool stuff for 'Celebrity,' so keep checking back right here for updates!"

'NSYNC SET HEARTS ON 'POPSTARS' FOR TOUR
Having a weekly TV series does have its perks.
The WB-birthed girl group Eden's Crush, whose debut, "Get Over Yourself," topped SoundScan's singles sales figures on Wednesday (March 21), have been tapped to open for 'NSYNC on their summer tour.
Though the 'NSYNC excursion kicks off on May 12 in Miami, the five ladies will hook up with the five fellas as of their June 19 date in Toronto.
Eden's Crush, formed during the course of the WB Television Network's reality series "Popstars," are finishing their as-yet-untitled first album and say they're trying to narrow down the 16 tracks they've recorded to an LP-lean 13.

MAN ARRESTED IN *N SYNC SCAM
The Press-Enterprise By Katie E. Ismael March 22, 2001
He is accused of selling Fontana students and school employees tickets to a
nonexistent concert. A West Covina man accused of selling tickets at Fontana
high schools to a nonexistent N'Sync concert has been arrested, officials
said Friday.
The man, Richard Allen Espinoza Jr., 31, was arrested on suspicion of grand
theft Thursday after police and investigators served search warrants in Los
Angeles and West Covina.
Deputy District Attorney Glenn Yabuno said prosecutors expect to file three
felony counts of grand theft Monday in the alleged ticket scam.
Espinoza, who claimed to be associated with the XFL, allegedly sold the $35
tickets at schools late last month, officials said.
The ticket sales netted $15,000, said Fontana police Lt. Tim O'Connor. The
tickets reportedly were purchased by as many as 400 students and school staff
members, mostly at Fontana A. B. Miller High School. Officials allege that
the man set up a table on campus to sell the tickets and admission to a dance
he intended to hold.
He had worked with the school's Associated Student Body groups and had showed
them brochures for previous work he had done, O'Connor said.
He "made it look more professional," he said.
When the dance was canceled, administrators took a closer look and discovered
that 'N Sync was not scheduled to be in California on the date of the supposed
concert, April 14.
Police began investigating allegations of fraud and found that Arroyo High
School in El Monte and Los Altos High School in Hacienda Heights also were
victims.
Warrants were served at a home in Los Angeles and at Espinoza's business in
West Covina, where he was arrested. He ran the business as the Los Angeles
Football League and operated several promotional businesses from that
location.
During the investigation, representatives of N'Sync, the XFL and the Sharks
semi-professional football team denied endorsing Espinoza.
"They all denied ever knowing them," Yabuno said. "Nobody claims any
affiliation with this person at all. "

HAPPY 20th BIRTHDAY, JUSTIN ! (January 31st)
THE REVIEWS ARE IN!
(The following information was taken from Business 2.0 web page.)
Retaining the humor element is challenging for some sponsors that have serious messages to deliver. Although it would seem that antismoking and responsible drinking would be difficult messages to convey to viewers who are likely drinking beer as they watch, credit is due to the American Legacy Foundation, Philip Morris (MO, info), and Anheuser Busch (BUD, info). Although all of these ads were effective, Anheuser Busch's use of teen pop music sensation 'NSYNC going door-to-door to promote responsible drinking was especially well done.
One of the game's biggest risk takers was E*trade (EGRP, info). Not only did the online brokerage buy several spots before, during, and after the game, they also sponsored the halftime show. The bet seemed to pay off well for this dot-com. The firm had two attention grabbing ads during the game. One featured last year's popular dancing monkey as a cowboy riding through a dot-com ghost town, and another featured a security guard that had Matrix -inspired agility. The halftime show, produced by MTV, was well promoted and turned out to be very entertaining. It no doubt kept many viewers who usually take bathroom or food breaks at halftime tuned in.
MY COMMENT: Yeeeeeeeeeah!!!! That's my boys!!!

NSYNC: COMING TO AN IMAX THEATER NEAR YOU?
Even if you didn't have a chance to see *N SYNC live this summer or fall, (WHAT WERE YOU DOING?...LIVING UNDER A ROCK!? j/k) you just may have one last chance before their new tour starts. Now, it won't be exactly the same, but as close as it can get. They recently taped a real live concert to be shown in IMAX theaters all over the WORLD. Pretty cool, huh? Check out the website for more info and even a brief preview! http://rbfcinc.com/ (There is NO www. before this address...I have no idea why!)
FINALLY!
Aww, the two love birds together at last.
By now, I am sure any true *N SYNC fan (or Britney fan) now know FOR SURE that Justin and Britney are officially a couple. It was announced probably around a month ago that the two pop idols had more than just friendly feelings for each other. Britney first came out with "the whole truth, and nothing but the truth" in Elle magazine.
In Teen People's February issue, which was released this month, both Justin and Britney address the issue. "That was her decision," says Justin. "I've always told her, if that's something she wanted to do, then I didn't mind. It's so hard to have a relationship, period." It seems like this dating thing isn't just a publicity scam..."If you really love somebody, nothing can get in the way. Look, I love you and you love me, that's it. Problems are going to come and go...She and I complement each other. She breathes fresth air into me; she's like a reality check. She's absolutely wonderful, an absolutely beautiful person, inside and out. When [negative] things are said about her, I take offense to them even more than she does." Joey puts in his two cents by characterizeing the superstar pair as completely down-to-earth. "When they come together, it's like, ' What do you want to do?' ' Let's sit down and watch TV.' Stuff like that."
Who's wearing the pants in this relationship?...Well Britney, of course. After all, it was her idea to come clean about their longtime relationship. At the VMAs she finally put her foot down when someone in her circle suggested that she park herself anywhere in the audience but beside Justin. What was Miss Spears opinion on this? "I was like, 'I want to sit by him.' He's fun to be around. I love his company. With him and my brother [Bryan] sitting by me, it made me feel so much more at ease and at peace." A week later while she was preparing for the Teen People shoot, Britney felt more at ease discussing her relationship. "It's just cool to have someone who understands what you go through---and he totally understands my schedule---and to have someone to talk to like a really good friend. He is such a sweetheat. He is everything, and what more could you want in a person? He's funny. He's cute. He's great. He just understands. I get him and he gets me, and that's cool."
MY COMMENT: Personally, I have no problem with this whole dating thing, but what does upset me, is why did they keep it under wraps for so long? I mean they have been together for at least a year now, and what did they expect to happen? Everyone thinks Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson are so cute together but why not Justin and Britney?...Because Nick and Jessica didn't deny and lie about it for 12 months. See what I mean?
*N SYNC ARE HEADED TO THE GRAMMY'S!
I guess it was his turn to be the one with the bad hair!
'NSYNC nabbed three Grammy nominations, including Record of the Year, Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal, and Best Pop Vocal Album. What was JC Chasez's reaction? "We figured we'd be in a pop category, but it's pretty cool being up for Record of the Year," said 'NSYNC's JC Chasez, who also attended the ceremony. "It's kind of bizarre being in the same category as Madonna and U2. It's exciting — it's an honor for sure. But winning wouldn't be earth-shattering," he said. "The Grammys are a wonderful award, but it's not going to change our day-to-day routine. We're going to keep doing exactly what we've been doing." Everyone's kind of on the aggressive kick now," Chasez said after helping announce the nominees for the 43rd annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. "We'll keep the energy in the music, but now I think it's time to find something a little funky. We're going to experiment with sounds and try to create something new."
Our boys may just get their very first Grammy this year, so be sure to tune in on February 21, 8pm on CBS.
TV GUIDE ANNOUNCES NOMINEES FOR AWARDS SHOW

*NSYNC Possibly To Appear on New Destiny's Child Album
Independent Woman: Beyonce
On the heels of "Independent Women Part 1," their single off the "Charlie's Angels" soundtrack, Destiny's Child are recording a new CD, Independent Women. Not that they don't want help from a few good men. "We're trying to get 'N Sync [on the CD]," says Destiny's Beyonce Knowles. "And we're talking about Michael Jackson - we're working with the same producer that he is." While she feels "a little pressure" about the new release, due in February, Knowles is happy to take the heat: "We're becoming the celebrities we've always wanted to become."
Digital Getdown to be Next Single?
N SYNC's Sophomore album, "No Strings Attached."
It is currently RUMORED that *N SYNC's next single off of "No Strings Attached" will be the cyber-sexin' song, "Digital Getdown." Now no information on *N SYNC's next song has been released, but several *N SYNC fans have said that their local radio station have been playing it lately.
MY COMMENT: I think *N SYNC's fourth single off of the album should be a less perverted song such as number five on the record, "It Makes Me Ill."
Justin: Love and No Sex, Yet
Britney Spears' pop pin-up boyfriend Justin Timberlake appreciates the crazy singer's need to put love before sex -- because he's a virgin too. The *NSYNC star admits it's often tough to resist the temptations of groupies, but he's determined to stay pure until his wedding night.
He says, "I'm probably the only guy my age that I know who's a virgin and that's ok by me. "I have the opportunity that most guys would kill for and I just throw it all away -- but it's all about love for me. "I don't follow the crowd and I really don't feel that I need to prove my manhood by jumping in the sack with every girl that comes along."
And Timberlake admits one of the reasons why he and Britney are so happy is because they believe in the same values. He adds, "I want to marry a girl who shares the same values I do. I have a lot of friends who messed up their lives because they couldn't keep it zipped."
MY COMMENT: YEA!....YOU GO JUSTIN! :)
Justin Timberlake Being Sued by "*N SYNC Fan"
An 'NSYNC fan has filed suit against group member Justin Timberlake, alleging that he harassed and verbally assaulted her. Danielle McGuire, 15, filed suit December 18 in a circuit court in St. Louis, Missouri, charging Timberlake with false imprisonment of a minor and intentional infliction of emotional distress, according to her lawyer, John Wallach. McGuire also charges a security guard with assault and battery in the suit, which stems from an alleged incident at a St. Louis hotel where the band was staying after a November 19 concert.
McGuire says that after the show, she and dozens of fans waited inside the lobby of the Chase Park Plaza hotel. When 'NSYNC arrived, each group member save for Timberlake talked with members of the crowd before entering elevators to go to their rooms, Wallach said.
After being snubbed by Timberlake, McGuire yelled out, "I like JC better anyway, he's cuter," referring to group member Joshua "JC" Chasez. Wallach said that a security guard for the group emerged from an elevator and asked McGuire if she was the one who made the comment. When she said she was, the security guard told her to come with him, there was some physical contact, and the two went upstairs, Wallach said.
McGuire asked if she could tell her mother, but the guard refused to let her, Wallach said. When they got upstairs, Timberlake backed McGuire against a wall and began berating her for what she said, the suit alleges. "[McGuire] said he went on and on, and wouldn't stop," Wallach said. "He was right in her face, saying things over and over again."
In the meantime, Wallach said, a friend of McGuire's went to alert her mother, who had brought the girls to the hotel. Security wouldn't let McGuire's mother upstairs, but allowed a family friend, KSDK news anchor Randy Jackson, to go get her. Jackson told Wallach that when he got upstairs, Timberlake was yelling at McGuire. When Timberlake saw the newsman, he limped off, saying that his leg hurt, Wallach alleges. "We tried to resolve this quietly," Wallach said. "But 'NSYNC's lawyer told me they weren't interested."
A jury will determine damages in the suit if and when it goes to court. 'NSYNC's lawyer and record label did not return phone calls. The suit also names the other members of 'NSYNC as a partnership, as well as the group's management company and Chase Park Plaza Limited Partnership. Wallach said that the group and management company are attached to the suit because they may be the employers of the security guards. The suit alleges that the hotel allowed the group and its management to take control of the lobby and members of the public. Hotel lawyers were unavailable at press time.
MY COMMENT: Alright, here we go again! Does one of the members of *N SYNC have a sticker on their back saying, "So sue me!" Well if not, you would certainly think so! Personally, I think that this is just a way for another person (Ahem, Lou Pearlman and RCA) to get a piece of the successful group's fortune. Think about it...I mean I know Justin's not perfect, but I'm sure he would get that offended over a fan saying JC is cuter?...I just don't think his temper is quite as hot as he is!
*N SYNC Go to Springfield
N SYNC are confirmed to appear in a future episode of 'THE SIMPSONS', following in the footsteps of AEROSMITH, KID ROCK, THE RAMONES and labelmate BRITNEY SPEARS. According to mtv.com, the quintet recorded their voices on September 12 for use in an episode entitled 'New Kids On The Blecch', scheduled for US transmission in February 2000. 'The Simpsons' producer Bonnie Pietilia confirmed that the sessions were also videotaped. In the episode, Bart Simpson forms a boy band called Party Posse with friends Nelson, Ralph and Milhouse, and are given advice on the night of their debut performance by *N Sync, who just happen to drop by. Other artists to have been immortalised in yellow include Smashing Pumpkins, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Cypress Hill, while it was announced earlier this month that Beck is due to make an appearance on 'Futurama', the latest project of 'The Simpsons' creator Matt Groening.
